Lago di Cadagno

Lake Cadagno is a fascinating alpine lake located in the Val Piora region. What makes this lake particularly interesting is its unique environment, rich in biodiversity. The lake is renowned for being one of the very few meromictic lakes in the world, which means it has distinct stratified zones with water layers that do not mix. Lake Cadagno is accessible by car, with parking located about ten minutes away from the lake. On the shores of the lake, there is the possibility to camp in tents for one night. Alternatively, you can stay overnight at the Tanera refuge or at the Cadagno Hut, located ten minutes on foot from the small lake.
